School Trip Twittering

Just got back from taking 50 Year 10 students to Berlin for the weekend. Over roughly 48 hours we managed to fit in Sachenhausen Concentration Camp, the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate, the Holocaust Memorial, Potsdamer Platz, Checkpoint Charlie, the Topography of Terror and the Jewish Museum!

It was a great weekend but one of the huge successes was our twitter feed. During the weekend, a German teaching colleague and I tweeted regular updates from our mobiles (his in German, mine in English) to let parents, colleagues and generally everyone back in Britain know of our adventures. If you go to twitter.com and search for #rgsberlin you can have a look at our efforts. For a first effort on this trip (we did something similar in Cologne, earlier in the year) it was great fun and we received lots of praise from parents and SLT when we returned. So wins all round. Next year I hope to deliver pictures much quicker using one of the school’s iTouch. If anyone else has used twitter in this way please let me know.
